Privacy Policy

WayVault ("the site", wayvault.net) is a free, non-commercial World of Warcraft reference and character-planning tool, operated by an individual under the pseudonym Zorko, based in the European Union. This policy explains what data the site processes and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Short version

No account is required. The site does not collect your name, email, or any directly identifying information. It uses cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics and stores a small amount of data locally in your own browser for features you actively use. No personal data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

2. Analytics (Umami)

Visits are measured with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that we self-host on our own server. It uses no cookies and does not track you across other websites. It records only aggregated, non-identifying information such as page URL, referrer, browser type, operating system, screen size, and an approximate country derived from your IP address. Your IP address is not stored; it is only used transiently to derive the country and a daily, non-reversible visitor hash, after which it is discarded.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding aggregate usage to improve the site. Because the analytics are cookieless and store no personal data, no consent banner is required under the ePrivacy Directive.

Opt out: to stop your visits being counted in a given browser, open its developer console on wayvault.net and run localStorage.setItem('umami.disabled', 1). Reverse it with localStorage.removeItem('umami.disabled').

3. Local browser storage

The site uses your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to remember things you choose, such as your saved "Library" favorites and your gear/talent plans. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and you can clear it any time via your browser settings or the in-page controls.

4. Server logs

Our web server keeps standard short-lived access logs (timestamp, requested path, status code) for security and troubleshooting. Behind our content-delivery network the originating visitor IP is not retained in these logs. Logs are rotated regularly.

5. Third parties

Traffic is delivered through Cloudflare (CDN / tunnel), which may process connection metadata to route and protect requests, per Cloudflare's own privacy terms. Fonts and game icons are loaded from public CDNs (Google Fonts, Wowhead/Zamimg image CDN); your browser's request to those services is subject to their respective policies. We embed no advertising or social-media trackers.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability regarding any personal data we hold. Because the site stores no account or directly identifying data, in practice there is little or nothing tied to you to act on — but you may still contact us with any request or to object to the analytics processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children and knowingly collects no data from them.

8. Changes

This policy may be updated as the site evolves; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
